Dear Friends & Family,

‘There’s a School on a Hill called Alvernia and her students fond and true ….’

It’s graduation time!  My cousin Judith and I are proud graduates of Mount Alvernia High School for girls in Montego Bay, Jamaica. At the time we graduated (many moons ago 🙂 ), the Sixth Form (12th &13th Grade) was not operational. However, it since reopened  in 2012. For those who may not be familiar, Sixth Form is one of the routes for students to access university studies in Jamaica. Students are prepared for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE), successful completion of which can secure them a place at the tertiary institutions.

Every year, there are students who experience financial difficulties sitting the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations at the end of high school. Some of these students may have the desire to move on to Sixth Form but do not have the financial means. Our goal is to raise at least US$4000 to make available as scholarships to students who would otherwise not have the means. The money raised is intended to cover tuition fees,  CAPE fees, books and other related costs.

Too often, bright and gifted students with amazing potential leave high school and head straight into the world of work because they do not have the resources to further their education. Please help us to raise the proposed funds to donate to Mount Alvernia High School to provide a way for the next generation of leaders. The future of Jamaica is in their hands and their future is in OUR hands.

We would like to make this donation a graduation gift. It is hoped that this will relieve anxiety for  students during the summer and they can plan in advance for this new possibility. As such, we would like to raise as much of this money as possible by Friday, June 17, 2022.  PLEASE -Donate Now!
